Chester Father, Dentist Dies At 52

David Matthews was known for his sense of humor.

CHESTER, N.J. – David Joseph Matthews had a great sense of humor and loved life.

The Chester resident and dentist died recently at the age of 52.

Matthews died at Morris View Healthcare Center in Morristown on Saturday, Jan. 9. He was the youngest of four and born in Rahway in 1963.

Matthews opened his own dental practice in Far Hills in 1990 and enjoyed his work thoroughly. He loved football, listening to music, playing piano and singing. He also had his pilot’s license and enjoyed skiing and running among other activities.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie, and two daughters, Abigail and Megan.

A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the William J. Leber Funeral Home on Furnace Road in Chester.
