Chester Twp. Police Warn of Heavy Weekend Traffic on Local Roads

Pumpkin picking season hits height in mid-October.

October in western Morris County is known for its beauty and abundance of pumpkin picking opportunities just as much as its surplus of traffic.

That traffic seems to hit a crescendo on October’s middle weekends, and Chester Township Police have released a statement regarding the volume of vehicles expected in the coming days.

“The Chester Township Police would like to advise all motorists that are planning to visit Chester, New Jersey this weekend to expect heavy traffic delays on Rt. 206, Rt. 24 and County Rt. 513 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday,” the statement read.

“There are over seven ‘Pick Your Own’ farms within close proximity to the center of Chester which attract large amounts of visitors on weekends,” police said. “This weekend there will also be the 32nd Annual Harvest Celebration with events in both Chester Borough and Chester Township. Please plan accordingly and expect delays.”
