Fire Pit Caused Deck Fire In Mendham Township: Police
Police are reminding residents to stay safe around their fire pits.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — A put-out fire pit is to blame for a Mendham Township deck fire last week, police said.
The on-deck fire pit had been put out after it was used, police said, but the heat from the ashes melted through the deck and sparked a fire. Police contained the fire until local fire departments were able to extinguish it.
Police are reminding residents to always be safe when using their backyard fire pits.
