Get Antiques, Collectibles Appraised For Free At Morris County Fundraiser

CHESTER, NJ — Local residents who think they may have a family heirloom or garage sale find worthy of "Antiques Roadshow" can bring it for a free appraisal this weekend, during a fundraiser by the Chester Historical Society.

The free event is Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Chester Library (250 W. Main St., Chester NJ).

"Ever wonder how much that old vase, necklace, watch, antique chair, painting, or coin collection that you inherited from Aunt Guinevere is worth?" the Historical Society said in an announcement. "Here is your chance to find out."

Experts from RZM Fine Arts and Antiques will appraise many types of antiques and collectible items. Every attendee can have at least one item appraised, and if there is time there may be additional rounds.

The items they will appraise include:

• Fine art (paintings, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, sculpture, etc.)
• Gold and silver coins
• Photography and cameras
• Toys and dolls
• Watches and clocks
• Musical instruments
• Scientific instruments
• Books: First editions
• Historical documents
• Fine jewelry (gold, platinum, silver, diamonds, etc.)
• Silver, flatware, bowls, trays, tea sets, etc.
• WWII Military items, antique guns, swords, uniforms, etc.
• Textiles (oriental rugs, tapestries, quilts, etc.)
• Furniture (antique, art deco, mid-century modern, etc.)
• Asian antiques
