Free Veteran's ID Cards Offered To Morris County Vets On May 8

This service is free of charge for all honorably discharged Morris County veterans, in appreciation of their service.

CHESTER, NJ — Morris County is offering free veteran's ID cards to those who have served our country.

This service is free of charge for all honorably discharged Morris County veterans, in appreciation of their service. The event will be on Wednesday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chester Township Municipal Building (1 Parker Road, Chester).

Veterans must present a form of identification proving Morris County residency, and the original or a certified copy of their long form discharge document, such as the DD Form 214. If the discharge document is already on file with the county clerk, the original or certified copy is not necessary.

Also, if a veteran has legally changed their name from what is listed on the discharge document, they will need a certified copy of that name change document.

These cards, issued by the Morris County Clerk's Office, are for identification purposes only, and not intended to replace the Federal Veteran Health Identification Card.

Veterans whose original discharge document has been lost or damaged may obtain a new one by contacting the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis or by calling I-866-272-6262.
