MENDHAM, NJ — After an uncontested primary election, the general election showdown is set for Mendham Township and Mendham Borough.

Residents will go to the polls again this November to elect a new member of the township committee and two new members of the borough council.

In Mendham Township, committee member Amalia Duarte is still vying to keep her seat on the committee and is being challenged by Republican candidate Elisa Wyman.

As it currently stands, Duarte, the sole Democratic candidate, received 271 votes during the primary election. Wyman, the sole Republican candidate, received 317 votes.

Election results remain unofficial until certified by the Morris County Clerk.

In Mendham Borough, there are two seats up for grabs this year and three candidates have put in their bid. This November, Republicans Marilyn Althoff and William Russo will be running against sole Democrat Melissa Rawley-Payne.

Here are the vote totals for the primary race:

  • Marilyn Althoff: 294
  • William Russo: 295
  • Melissa Rawley-Payne: 233

The Morris County clerk has not certified the totals yet. To make the tally official, the final certification of the results must be done on June 19.

The general election is set for Nov. 7, 2023.
