Mikie Sherrill Taps 2 Morris Co. Mayors For Transition Team

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill is looking in the district she represented as a congresswoman as she builds her transition panel.

The Democrat has tapped Chester Borough Mayor Janet Hoven and Madison Mayor Robert Conley for her Transition Local Government Advisory Group.

Hoven is among just four Republican officials selected among 35 mayors, county leaders, and council members on Sherrill’s advisory group. The other Republican appointees are Monmouth County Commissioner Erik Anderson, Egg Harbor Township Councilman Paul Hodson, and Point Pleasant Borough Mayor Robert Sabosik.

Conley, serving his fourth term as Mayor of Madison, will join the remaining 31 local leaders on the board.

According to Sherrill, the group has been made to “ensure that local communities across the state have a voice in the upcoming Administration.”

“I know that the best ideas come from working closely with local communities on the ground, and that’s why this advisory group is so important,” said Sherrill. “In Congress, I worked hand-in-hand with our local officials to deliver funding and federal resources for everything from flood mitigation to combating auto thefts to building housing that working families can afford. I intend to have the same collaborative, mission-focused relationship in my administration – and that starts with the transition as we put our agenda together to be ready to deliver on Day One.”

Sherrill is set to be sworn in as the Garden State's next governor on Jan. 20.
