Which Morris County schools stood out from the rest in the U.S. News and World Report ranking?
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The annual "Best High School" rankings were released Tuesday, an annual listing from U.S. News & World Report. So, which high school took home top marks in Morris County?
The national publication ranked New Jersey's top 406 schools, and showed where they landed among more than 20,500 public high schools in the United States.
In general, the top high schools have students who score exceptionally high on math, reading and science assessments, as well as strong performance among under-served students. High school graduation rates and college readiness among graduates are also measured.

Chatham High School was the highest on the list to hail from Morris County, coming in at No. 21. Here are the other districts that came in among the top 25 percent of the state:
- No. 36: Mountain Lakes High School
- No. 51: West Morris Mendham High School
- No. 52: Madison High School
- No. 55: Montville Township High School
- No. 56: Morris Hills High School
- No. 73: Academy for Mathematics, Science and Engineering, Rockaway
- No. 78: Parsippany Hills High School
- No. 79: Whippany Park High School
- No. 85: Morris Knolls High School
- No. 92: West Morris Central High School
- No. 98: Parsippany High School
U.S. News also ranked magnet, charter and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) schools.
