Semi-Automatic Gun Found During Mendham Twp Traffic Stop: Police

Two people were arrested during the traffic stop, police said.

MENDHAM TWP, NJ — An illegal, loaded semi-automatic gun was found during a Mendham Township traffic stop last week, police said.

Police say the pulled the car over around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 24 because it had out lights and tinted windows. During the stop, police say the car smelled strongly of marijuana. A search turned up an illegal loaded semi-automatic handgun and marijuana, police said.

Andre Pete, 19, of Orange and Javaughn Myers, 29, of East Orange, were charged with several things, police said. including unlawful possession of a handgun and drug possession. They were taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
