Speeding Driver Found With Pound Of Pot Ready For Sale In Mendham Twp.: Cops
Nearly $1,000 in cash, 'marijuana wax' also seized, police said.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – A Pine Brook man was arrested and charged with a slew of offenses after police say they found more than a pound of marijuana in his car and nearly $1,000 in cash.
At 2:42 p.m. on Jan. 12, Mendham Township police stopped a vehicle speeding on South Road near Ironia Road, Lt. Ross Johnson said.
When police made contact with the driver, a strong odor of raw marijuana was detected, Johnson said. Police called for the Morris County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit to assist at the scene and the driver, Paul Saryan, 19, of Pine Brook was asked to step out of the car.

While speaking with police, Saryan allegedly admitted to a large quantity of marijuana being hidden inside the vehicle, Johnson said.
A search turned up more than a pound of marijuana split into eight separate bags, along with seven wax folds of “marijuana wax” all with a total street value of $5,800, Johnson said. A total of $978 was also seized.

Saryan was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession of paraphernalia, operating of a motor vehicle containing narcotics and as well as a motor vehicle offense.
The vehicle was impounded and Saryan was released pending a court appearance.
