Man Charged With Burglary, Theft In Middlesex Boro
At 1:21 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to a Smalley Avenue business in Middlesex borough.
MIDDLESEX, NJ — A Roselle man is charged with stealing multiple E-Z Pass transponders from a Smalley Avenue business in Middlesex borough, said police in that town.
At 1:21 a.m. Wednesday, Sergeant George Pilesky, Officer Marc Arancio and Officer Brandon Stout responded to the business to investigate a suspicious person. The caller reported observing a male subject on the property who was seen entering multiple vehicles without permission.
Stout located and stopped the man, identified as Jerry L. Pierre, 28, of Roselle, on Jay Place. Officers determined that Pierre was in possession of numerous E-ZPass transponders that were stolen from the Smalley Avenue business.

Pierre was placed under arrest and later remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility.
Pierre was charged with burglary, theft and trespassing.

“We commend the citizen for reporting suspicious activity and assisting our officers in locating the suspect,” said Middlesex borough Police Chief Matthew Geist. “This arrest is a great example of how community awareness and cooperation play a critical role in keeping our neighborhoods safe. We encourage everyone to report anything that seems out of place and remind all residents to always lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent these types of crimes."
