12-Foot Waves Expected At Shore; Monmouth Co. Under Flood Warning Until Saturday
"Significant coastal hazards are expected beginning Wednesday through Friday, August 22, with conditions peaking Thursday."

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — All of eastern Monmouth County is now under a coastal flood warning until 2 a.m. Saturday.
Local police are preparing for widespread roadway flooding that may happen in towns along Raritan Bay.
"Due to the impacts of Hurricane Erin and the upcoming new moon cycle, significant coastal hazards are expected beginning Wednesday, August 20, through Friday, August 22, with conditions peaking on Thursday, August 21, as the storm passes offshore," Rumson Police said Wednesday.

They warned residents over the next 48 hours, to please prepare for:
- High sustained winds and stronger gusts
- Tidal flooding in low-lying areas
- Rising water levels that may impact travel and property
There is a High Surf Advisory for the entire Jersey Shore. Expect large breaking waves of seven to 12 feet in the surf zone on Thursday. Waves will slightly reduce on Friday to six to nine feet.

There is also a high rip current risk, with life-threatening rip currents expected through Friday at the Jersey Shore.
