Almost Home Will Open At Little Red Store In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There's big food news in the Middletown area:

Almost Home will open in the Little Red Store, the iconic and beloved building at the corner of Navesink and Monmouth avenues in Navesink.

The news was first reported by the Asbury Park Press, but confirmed by an Almost Home employee at their Lincroft location Friday afternoon.

"Yup, we're opening there. It's looking like an early October opening; at least that's what we're planning," she said. "It's going to be an exciting next couple of months."

As we reported last week, Big Mike’s Little Red Store, which was in that location for five years, permanently closed its doors this August. Owner Mike Metzner is opening a new eatery, Saltwater Social Bar and Kitchen, at 128 Bay Ave. in Highlands, also planning an opening sometime in fall 2023.

Almost Home is really popular in Middletown: Owners Robbie Doran and Andrew Datre opened their Lincroft location in 2021. They also have a coffee cart at the Belford ferry terminal, a coffee shop in Sea Bright and even a coffee cart in downtown Jersey City inside Hudson House near the ferries.

Almost Home is also currently exploring opening a Philly location, said the store employee.

Their outpost in the Little Red Store in Navesink will serve Southern-style breakfasts, and sandwiches and salad for lunch. It will not be a sit-down restaurant with waiter service like their original Lincroft location.
