Call This Number To Report Tinton Falls Landfill Smells
There's a new number to call if you live near the Tinton Falls landfill, and have complained about horrible odors coming from it:

TINTON FALLS, NJ — Big news if you live near the Tinton Falls landfill, and have complained about horrible odors coming from it:
Monmouth County government just announced Monday they are launching a brand-new hotline where residents can call to report an odor complaint. The new hotline number is 732-559-ODOR (6367). The hotline will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Calls made during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) will be directed to investigators who are housed on site at the Monmouth County Reclamation Center (6000 Asbury Avenue in Tinton Falls.)

"The goal is to have an investigator respond to the site of the odor complaint within 30 minutes of receiving a call," said Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone Monday.
If you report an odor outside those business hours, call the same number and you will be connected to an on-call "Monmouth County Environmental Health Investigator" who will respond to odor complaints.

"The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is launching this hotline with the goal of a quick response to our residents who are filing an odor complaint associated with the County Reclamation Center (the Tinton Falls landfill)," said Arnone.
“Our Tinton Falls Council is absolutely thrilled with the new development in the reporting procedure regarding the Monmouth County Reclamation Center and the efforts being made to improve the quality of life of our residents,” said Tinton Falls Council President Risa Clay. “I would like to give special thanks to Councilman John Manginelli for his tireless work to improve this situation.”
For years now, people who live near the Tinton Falls landfill have complained about the horrible smell. The landfill does not clear gas correctly, and lots of rain and damp, humid weather makes it worse.
On windy days, the smell can carry as far as Wall Township.
In addition to launching the brand-new hotline, Monmouth County has been providing monthly updates, which are sent to residents who signed up to get them. These updates are also posted on the County’s website.
"We are committed to keeping residents informed about the situation and look forward to resolving this issue," vowed Arnone Monday.
