Coastal Flood Warning Issued For Woodbridge, Middletown, Raritan Bay

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning for all along the Raritan Bay until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Central New Jersey until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The flood warning applies to all of Middlesex County and western Monmouth County and applies to any town along the Raritan Bay.

Forecasters are telling residents to prepare for one to two feet of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

At this level, widespread roadway flooding occurs in coastal and bayside communities and along inland tidal waterways. Many roads become impassable. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to occur.

Back bays may have worse and longer lasting impacts than the oceanfront.

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
