Danny Kelleher, Local Belford Man Mourned

Daniel Kelleher ("Danny") grew up in Belford and was a proud graduate of Middletown North H.S. class of '78. He passed away Feb. 1.

BELFORD, NJ — Daniel Kelleher (“Danny”) of Philadelphia PA., born March 31, 1960 in Red Bank, NJ, passed away February 1, 2019. Danny grew up in Belford, NJ where he was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish in New Monmouth. He is the son of William and Catherine Kelleher (both deceased) of Belford.

Survived by his brothers and sisters, William Kelleher (Lorraine) of Shrewsbury NJ, Margaret Kelleher Baldwin of Alexandria, VA, Thomas Kelleher (Madeline), of Madison NJ, Lawrence Kelleher of Garden Grove CA, John Kelleher (Carol) of Pittsburgh PA, James Kelleher (Susan) of Red Bank NJ, Robert Kelleher (Becky) of Burleson TX, Patricia Kelleher Patterson (Kenneth) of Red Bank NJ, numerous nephews and nieces, and the most recent additions to the clan, great niece Saoirse Kelleher Reid and great nephews Desmond Kelleher, Thorson Kelleher Reid and Gabriel Antonio Patterson.

Danny was a proud graduate of Middletown North H.S. class of ’78, and later Montclair State College. He had a zest for life and an appetite for fun that ensured all who were with him had a good time. Above all he loved spending time with his extended family, his travels abroad, and fishing and hunting in and around New Jersey.

He was employed by ECI Furniture, Inc. in Philadelphia where he developed close friends and greatly enjoyed travelling for the firm to China and other Far East locations in his capacity as President of International Operations. In his younger days he was well-known for his talents on the baseball diamond and football field; from his years in Middletown Pop Warner to Bayshore Middle School to Middletown North, all along making friends of teammates, coaches and fans. He is remembered by many who knew him as a great classmate, a gifted athlete, and a fine leader. He was driven, generous and caring, and leaves a lasting impression on all of us who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown, NJ from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at which family and friends will be invited to share their memories of Danny. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or The American Cancer Society.
