December Programs For Kids And Teens At Middletown Library
It's Christmas at the Middletown Library. The library has chances for kids to meet Santa, make an ornament with their grandparents and more:
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The holiday season is here, and the Middletown Township Public Library (MTPL) is celebrating with festive, fun and educational programs for children and teens. Registration is required for most programs at mtpl.org.
What's planned this December:
Tween LEGO Club – Monday, December 1 at 6 p.m.: Tweens learn to build fun creations with rotating themed challenges, STEAM-focused activities and free build time. For ages 9-12.

The Brainy Bunch – Wednesdays, December 3 & 10 at 4:30 pm: Join a STEM-based program for grade K–5 combining education, experimentation and fun.
Cards for a Cause – Wednesday, December 3 from 3–5 pm: Drop in to make holiday greeting cards for Middletown seniors. Volunteer Hours will be offered for each card with a limit of 5 cards for 5 hours. For ages 13-18.

Tween Game Night – Wednesday, December 3 at 7 p.m.: Bring a friend or make a friend while playing games like Trivia, Bingo, Pictionary, HeadsUp and more. For ages 9-12.
Gymboree for Walkers/Babies - Thursday, December 4 at 10 am and 11 am: Gymboree of Red Bank will offer gym classes for toddlers and babies.
Multigenerational Ornament Making Session - Thursday, December 4 at 3:30 p.m.: Children can work with parents or grandparents to create ornaments to keep, give as gifts, or hang on the Children’s Room holiday tree. Supplies provided. A festive tree lighting with hot chocolate and holiday tunes will follow at 5:15 pm.
Duplo Free Play – Fridays at 11 a.m.: Bring your little builders for open-ended Duplo playtime! Ages 2+ are invited to get creative, build big, and have fun together—no registration needed.
Pictures with Santa – Saturday, December 6 from 11 am – 2 pm: Have your picture taken with Santa and capture a magical holiday memory! This is a Friends of the Middletown Township Public Library fundraiser with a suggested donation of $10 per family.
Santa Storytime – Saturday, December 6 at 12 pm: Enjoy delightful holiday stories read by Santa himself in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. No registration is required and all ages are welcome.
SLP Musically with Miss Kat – Monday, December 8 at 4:30 pm: Join Miss Kat for a fun, free singalong for children ages 4-9, particularly AAC users. Enjoy Laurie Berkner songs, camp favorites, and originals, all in a music-making session designed for kids of all abilities.
Tween Book Club – Tuesday, December 9 at 4:15 pm: Tween ages 9–12 are invited to the Book Club for a fun-filled session: discuss a featured book, enjoy a related activity, and hang out with friends in the second half.
Stuffed Animal Storytime and Sleepover – Tuesday, December 9 at 6:30 pm: Bring your stuffed friend to our library sleepover! We’ll read them a bedtime story, tuck them in, and you can see their overnight adventures the next day. For ages 3+.
Designing 3D Prints for Beginners (Ages 9+) – Wednesday, December 10 at 6:30 pm: Try your hand at 3D design in the Makerspace! Using TinkerCAD, you’ll make a custom keychain in your favorite color—no prior experience needed.
Read to a Dog – Thursday, December 11 at 4 pm and Monday, December 15 at 6 pm: Improve the literacy skills of children by reading ten minutes to a certified therapy dog. Four sessions available on each date. For independent readers in Grades K-5.
Teen Anime Club – Thursday, December 11 at 4 p.m.: Join us to learn how to make felt plushes inspired by your favorite anime and manga. Open to ages 10 and up — bring your creativity and favorite fandoms!
Holiday Lava Lamps – Friday, December 12 at 3:30 pm: Decorate your own festive lava lamp and learn to make fun lava bubbles! For grades K–5 (ages 5–10).
Andrew Scharff Holiday Show – Saturday, December 13 at 11 a.m.: Andrew, Santa’s “honorary” toy tester, puts yo-yos, juggling boxes, spinning tops, and more to the test in a fun, festive show. For all ages.
Tween Craft Night – Tuesday, December 16 at 6:45 p.m.: Tweens ages 9–12 can learn basic hand sewing stitches and create a holiday or winter-themed embroidery sampler inspired by the American Revolutionary era.
Sensory Family Storytime – Thursday, December 19 at 10 am: Read, sing, dance, and play, then explore our interactive sensory stations! Designed for ages 0–3.
