Keansburg Will Build New Pickleball Court At Collins Field

Keansburg plans to use a county grant to build a brand-new pickleball court next to the three Collins Field tennis courts.

KEANSBURG, NJ — On Oct. 28, Monmouth County announced a list of towns that will receive county funding to make park improvements.

Middletown did not receive any money, but Keansburg did: Keansburg received $75,000 from the county, and the big news is Keansburg will use it to build a pickleball court next to the three existing tennis courts at Collins Field.

Keansburg plans to build a brand-new, 2,600-square-foot pickleball court, said Mayor George Hoff. The pickleball court will be built in the open field area that is there now, separate from the tennis courts. No space will be taken from the tennis courts to build the pickleball court, he said.

It will have an eight-foot high chain-link fence around it to keep balls contained. Resurfacing of the tennis courts will also be done, with cracks repaired.

Hoff expects the project will be awarded in December, and anticipates construction will start in February, with the new pickleball court completed in May 2025.
