MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Join Middletown Historical Society at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 for a fascinating lecture on the history of Twin Lights lighthouse in Highlands.
The talk will be given by Dr. Richard Veit, who will present "Archaeology at the Twin Lights." It will be held at the Middletown Township Public Library.
Monmouth University's annual archaeological field school has explored the history of Twin Lights, with a focus on the two original 1820s lighthouses. Excavations revealed the remains of one of the original lighthouses and provided new evidence about the structural problems that led to its demise.

Dr. Veit was director of excavations in that dig, and he will share his findings.
Dr. Veit currently serves as Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for Monmouth University, where he is also a Professor of Anthropology.
