May Programs For Kids, Teens At Middletown Library

There is so much planned this May for children and teens at the Middletown Free Public Library:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Enjoy the warming spring days of May with fun and educational library programs for children and teens at the Middletown Township Public. Registration is required for most programs, and can be done at: mtpl.org.

Gymboree for Toddlers and Babies – May 1 at 10am and 11am: Gymboree of Red Bank returns to the library to offer monthly gym classes for toddlers (walkers) and babies (crawlers).

Storytime with a Firefighter – May 3 at 10am: Enjoy firefighter and fire safety-themed books with a real firefighter in uniform for International Firefighter Day. For all ages.

School Age STEM: Tensile Force – May 6 at 4:15pm: Experiment with tensile force through hands-on-activities, and create acrobat monkey fidget toys. For grades K-5.

Tween Game Night – May 6 at 7pm: Bring a friend or make a friend and play Trivia, Bingo, Pictionary, HeadsUp and other tabletop games. For ages 9-12.

Crafternoon: Spring Flower Frame – May 7 at 4pm: Paint and decorate a flower-shaped frame, customizing it with a personal photo. For ages 5-8.

Cards for a Cause – May 8 from 3pm – 5pm: Drop in to make cards for Middletown seniors. Volunteer Hours will be offered for each card with a limit of 5 cards for 5 hours. For ages 13-18.

Read to a Dog – May 8 from 4 - 5pm and May 19 from 6 – 7pm: Improve the literacy skills of independent readers by reading for ten minutes to a nonjudgmental therapy dog. Four sessions available on each date. For Grades K-5.

Book Explorers – May 13 at 4:15pm: Play tiny table games inspired by the miniature characters in "The Littles" by John Peterson and "The Borrowers" by Mary Norton. For grades K-5.

Teen Mario Kart Night – May 15 at 7pm: Join an exciting evening of Mario Kart Racing in the teen room! For ages 13-18.

Pokémon Trading Night – May 15 at 7pm: Trade with fellow Pokémon fans, discuss Pokémon books and movies and play the Pokémon trading card game with your own deck. For ages 8+.

Saturday Family Storytime and Craft: Snails – May 17 at 10am: Celebrate National Snail Day with fun snail stories and a craft. For ages 3 and up.

Tween Book Club – May 21 at 4:15pm; Join the Tween Book Club to discuss "The Night Librarian" by Christopher Lincoln. For ages 9-12.

Bookworms Book Club – May 22 at 4:15pm: Come and share your love of reading at the Bookworms Book Club for ages 5-8.

Teen Dungeons & Dragons Night – May 22 at 5pm: Join a one-shot adventure of humor, hijinks, daring rescues and fierce combat in the teen room. New and experienced Dungeons & Dragons players are welcome! For ages 13-18.

Family Movie Afternoon: "Dog Man" – May 24 at 2pm: Join a free screening of the animated superhero comedy film based on the popular Dog Man graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey. Rated PG. All ages welcome.

Tween Craft Night: Initial String Art – May 27 at 6:45pm: Join this craft night for ages 9-12 to create “Initial String Art”. Please visit the library calendar to read registration and program guidelines.

Teen Art Program: Book Page Flowers – May 28 at 7pm: Turn old book pages into beautiful spring flowers at this craft program for teens ages 13-18.

All Ages Summer Reading Kick-off – May 29 at 7pm: Join us for live music, crafts, and children’s activities to kick off our “Color Your World” 2025 Summer Reading Program!
