MIDDLETOWN, NJ — First, a major water main broke occurred in Aberdeen Wednesday morning, and as of 12:15 p.m., there is now a water main break in Middletown, as well.
Kings Highway eastbound is closed from Chapel Hill to Windy Hill as of noon Wednesday until further notice due to a water main break, announced Middletown Police.
In Aberdeen, the water main break along Church Street was so significant it closed down Strathmore Elementary School for the entire day.

Aberdeen's water main break caused flooding on Church Street between Line Road and Lloyd Road, but many parts of the entire town experienced no water or low water pressure.
Repairs could take up to eight hours, warned Aberdeen Police.

Water main breaks occur when there are rapidly fluctuating temperatures, such as going from warm to cold, which causes old pipes to contract and expand and ultimately break.
