MIDDLETOWN, NJ — At 3 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 11 there will be a grand reopening ceremony for the Navesink Library tennis courts in the Navesink section of Middletown.

Friday's grand reopening of the courts is highly anticipated. Those tennis courts have been closed since 2008.

"For over 100 years the Navesink Library tennis courts were a vital part of the small community," said the group. "Due to wear and tear and neglect, the courts became unsafe and unusable and were closed, which was heartbreaking to residents. This past winter, the Board of Trustees created a plan to 'Save the Courts' to repair and reopen the courts for tennis, pickleball and basketball. In May, the fundraising campaign raised $60,000 to cover the associated costs. Construction began immediately and the courts were finished this July."
