Rabid Raccoon Found In Middletown
An "extremely sick" raccoon was found Saturday near Sugar Maple Drive and Mayflower Drive, and results came back Tuesday that it had rabies:
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A rabid raccoon was found Saturday in Middletown, Middletown Animal Control announced.
The raccoon was found near Sugar Maple Drive and Mayflower Drive, which is technically in the Red Bank mailing address of Middletown.
Middletown Animal Control initially responded to a call Saturday for "an extremely sick raccoon." Animal Control captured the raccoon; it was euthanized and sent to the NJ state lab for testing.

Results came back Tuesday that the raccoon was positive for rabies.
Stay away from any wild animal, and keep pets away, too. If you see a wild animal acting strangely or behaving aggressively, call Middletown Animal Control at 732-615-2097 immediately or contact the Middletown Police Department at 911 or 732-615-2100.
