KEANSBURG, NJ — This week, Keansburg Police released the body camera footage that shows three children jump from a burning home in that town last Friday.

This was the fire that broke out in a second-floor apartment of a home on Seeley Avenue. Police and firefighters found the mother unconscious on the floor upstairs, while her three children, two 10-year-olds and one 12-year-old, were screaming to be rescued from second-story windows.

The woman and children were trapped; their exit down the stairs was blocked by smoke.

The mother remained hospitalized in a hospital ICU this week, Keansburg Mayor George Hoff previously said. She suffered serious smoke inhalation.

It shows officers first arriving at the house and finding the stairwell leading upstairs full of smoke. "There's a kid up there," someone says.

The officers are heard saying "F—, f—, we can't get in."

They then speak to a child on the second floor, telling the child, a girl, to push the window out so she can jump out. The child is screaming "Help!"

The police officers then try a second time to go up the stairs to get into the apartment.

"It's too bad; we can't get in there," the police say, referring to the heavy smoke.

The officers then put a ladder up to the second floor and the girl then suddenly, with no warning, jumps out the window. Officers curse again in shock, but safely catch her. The officers then encourage two more children to jump out, and both are safely caught.

The children seem woozy and very disoriented. The officers ask them multiple times: "Is there anyone else inside?" and it appears to be difficult for the children to answer.

The children appear to answer "no," that nobody else is inside, but police said they later found their mother unconscious on the second floor.

The children suffered some minor smoke inhalation. They were treated at Bayshore Medical Center and released Friday. The three children are currently staying with their father, said the mayor.

A family friend started this GoFundMe to help the woman and her children.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This was a legal apartment.
