Water Main Break Occurs On Hubbard Avenue

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A water main break occurred on Hubbard Avenue in the River Plaza section of Middletown Monday afternoon, and Hubbard Ave. will now be closed until 11:30 p.m., said Middletown Police.

The water main break occurred shortly after 1 p.m.

Hubbard Avenue will be closed all day between West Front Street and Navesink River Road. There's a detour and police are on scene.

Expect delays and avoid the area.

In August 2023, there was a massive water main break, similarly under Hubbard Avenue near Nutswamp Road, and dozens of River Plaza homeowners lost water pressure for about 24 hours.

In that instance two years ago, it was a 20-inch main under Hubbard Avenue that ruptured. Hundreds of gallons of water were seen gushing over Hubbard Avenue. After the first line broke, then two other smaller water lines broke near the Shadow Lake 55+ community, located nearby. Some customers in Shadow Lake lost water service, too.
