Woman Dies In Middletown House Fire Saturday
A woman who lived in the home died in the Dakarla Drive fire. Her husband was pulled from the burning home.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — It was a woman in her 70s who died in the house fire early Saturday morning in Middletown.
This is the fire that broke out in the 6 a.m. hour Saturday in a home on the 20 block of Dakarla Drive, very close to Middletown High School South.
Firefighters got there at 6:48 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in fire.

A woman who lived in the home died in the fire. Her husband, also in his 70s, was pulled from the blaze by Middletown volunteer firefighters and police. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She, however, was pronounced dead at the scene.
What exactly caused the fire remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal. Her cause of death has also not been publicly released.

Middletown Police ask that anyone with information on Saturday morning's fire, including witnesses and neighbors, to call MTPD Detective 1st Class Albert Scott at 732-615-2120.
This was the second fatal fire to occur in Monmouth County this past weekend: A man renting an Asbury Park home died when a fire occurred in a two-family home on Prospect Avenue in that town Friday morning. An adult male tenant was trying to evacuate the burning home from the rear of the building, but was trapped by flames and smoke, according to News 12. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he died.
