Pedestrian Hit On Rt. 36 In Atlantic Highlands

Witnesses reported a possible medevac helicopter evacuation from a nearby field.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — A pedestrian was hit near Rt. 36 in Atlantic Highlands Monday night, according to police in that town.

The pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Memorial Parkway and First Avenue. The accident occurred at around 6 p.m., and witnesses are reporting a heavy amount of traffic in the area. Witnesses reported a possible medevac helicopter evacuation from a nearby field.

Rt. 36 eastbound lanes were closed Monday, said Atlantic Highlands Police. Police warned drivers to expect heavy traffic delays and heavy police presence along Rt. 36, and if possible avoid the area.
