BOE Holds First Meeting with New Format

The board has opened the first round of public comment on the agenda to discuss any issue.

The Board of Education will hold its first meeting with the new agenda format Monday at 7:45 p.m, in the Education Center.

The new format allows residents to address any issue during the first round of public comment as a way to accomodate residents who can't wait until the end of the meeting.

Originally, residents could only address items on the agenda during the first public comment. If someone wanted to discuss an issue not on the agenda they would have to wait until close the end of the meeting.

The board made this change during the Sept. 24 meeting as a way to accommodate parents who've been unable to voice their opinion in meetings because the unrestricted public comment was too late.

The second month's second meeting, on Oct. 22, will follow the original format. The new format will only be for the first meeting of each month.

If residents want to give their input on the budget, the district has announced two dates for public comment during the budget's preliminary phrase.
