Four Millburn Students Win National Awards
Local students win art awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition for film, comics, printmaking, mixed-media and drawing.

Four students were honored in Millburn last week for winning awards in the longest running student competition for art and writing in the nation.
The Millburn-Short Hills students won awards in the categories film, comics, printmaking, mixed-media and drawing in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition.
The national medal winners joined other Millburn students winners at Millburn High School on March 21 for a night of recognition to celebrate all Millburn students who have won Scholastic Awards this year.

On May 31, the students will receive their medals in an award ceremony at Carnegie Hall, New York.
Seventh-grader, Ryan Sunada-Wong, represented Millburn Middle School as a National Gold Medal winner for comics and he has also won the national designation of ”Best in Grade,” out of all seventh-graders in the competition.

Carly Pancer, a senior at Millburn High School, has won a Silver Medal for printmaking.
Millburn High School senior, Jade Gardner, won two Silver Medals, one for mixed-media and one for drawing.
Jake Oleson, a Millburn High School senior planning to attend NYU as a film major, won the New York Life Award for a film he directed entitled, “Jeff," which honors the life of his late father.
Over two hundred thousand works of art and writing were juried at the regional level in December and pieces winning Gold Key awards regionally went on to be juried for national awards.
Less than two thousand pieces were selected for national recognition.
