Jersey Mike's: No Short Hills Location Yet, But They're Hoping Someday
A planned Short Hills location fell through, but they'd like to come to Millburn someday, said the NJ sandwich chain, founded in the '50s.
MILLBURN, NJ — While recent media reports have noted that the popular New Jersey sandwich chain Jersey Mike's — founded in the 1950s — will open more than a dozen new shops in the Garden State, one of them won't be in Short Hills, contrary to stories in NJ.com and other outlets.
The chain lists 14 New Jersey towns that will get shops. Among them is a Short Hills store at 799 Morris Pike, listed as "scheduled to open soon." However, the information is outdated, the chain and Millburn Mayor Maggee Miggins said this week.
A spokesman for Jersey Mike's said Wednesday, "According to Jerry Kallman, Jersey Mike’s Area Director in Northern NJ, while unfortunately the original location fell through, they are actively seeking a location in Short Hills."

The first Mike's opened down the shore, at Point Pleasant in 1956. It's known for inspiring three men to open the Blimpie sub chain nearly a decade later.
