Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court

The Court handled cases against 5 defendants, including shoplifting and credit card fraud.

The first two individuals listed are spouses.

In State v. Meylin Artiga-Desota of Roselle, the State charged her with shoplifting from Nordstrom. She pled guilty to the charge.  The Court imposed a fine of $500, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty, and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Roger Sota-Castillo of Roselle, the State charged him with shoplifting from Nordstrom and also with possession of a device used for theft.  He pled guilty to both charges. The Court sentenced him to 10 days of community service on the first charge; and on each of the charges, the Court imposed a fine of $500, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty, and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Maelik Glover of New York, the State charged her with disorderly conduct.  She pled guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced her to 20 days of community service and imposed a fine of $506, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty, and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Jesus Hidalgo of the Bronx, the State charged him with using someone else’s credit card. He pled guilty to an amended charge of issuing bad checks. The Court imposed a fine of $500, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty, and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Michael Yoshitsu of Millburn, the State had charged him with issuing a bad check to Kings.  The case was dismissed.
