The Millburn Boys Varsity Cross Country squad continued its undefeated season after beating the SEC American division rivals Montclair Kimberly Academy and East Side High School at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
Eleven Super Essex Conference schools participated in the 74-runner field on Sept 24.
The unseasonably high temperatures and high humidity were no match for Millburn’s stellar meet performance, boasting the top three race finishers: Chris Shim (1st at 17:17), Matt DeShaw (2nd at 17:23) and Steven Cohen (3rd at 17:26), all juniors at Millburn High School.

Also scoring for the Millburn team were sophomore Daniel Altschuler (8th place at 18:07) and freshman Chris Stone (9th place at 18:08). Senior Ethan Kramer (10th place at 18:08) and freshman Will Meyer (11th place at 18:10) finished right behind Altschuler and Stone. Millburn boasted seven of the top eleven finishers. This was the season’s first meet for one of Millburn’s top runners, Robert Stone, who is recovering from an injury and back to competing.
Millburn Boys Varsity will be battling to retain their undefeated record next Tuesday against division rivals Livingston and Bloomfield.
