Millburn HS Holds Fall Musical Auditions
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will take the Limelight Theatre Stage this fall.

Millburn High School's Limelight Theatre announced its fall musical will be The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The performances aren't until November but the high school is holding auditions for interested students next month.
"The show is a small ensemble so everyone is the lead in this show," producer of the fall musical, Erin Smith, said. Smith is also the music teacher at the Hartshorn School.
The auditions are open to all Millburn High School students and will take place Sept. 4 and 5, the first and second days after school.

There are about nine named roles but Smith said, "it will be based on talent we see how we decided how many we cast." Although only nine main roles there is always a possibility of understudies or doubles she said.
"The Paper Mill Playhouse did the play a few years ago and the town really enjoyed it," Smith said about the show with music and lyrics by William Finn. The musical is based off of the book by Rachel Sheinkin.. "So, that's why we decided to choose it this year."

The play centers around a spelling bee of socially inept youths said Smith. For example one of the characters can only spell a word with his feet, which leads to a song.
