Millburn Parents Petition for Rosh Hashanah, Chinese New Year as Personal Days of Observance

A process which could result in additional school closings for Millburn students starting with the 2015-2016 school year is moving forward with petition leaders posted on the district website Monday.

The petition and ballot process will allow parents to select which days of personal observance they wish to see added to the calendar, such as Rosh Hashanah, Good Friday and Chinese New Year.

The petition leaders and their assistants must obtain a minimum of 500 valid signatures of Millburn residents aged 18 or over by Sept. 30 in order for the petition to qualify for review.

Once petitions are validated, requested days off will be placed on a ballot which will be open for voting from Oct. 14 through Nov. 11.
