Car Break-Ins and Counterfeiters at the Mall

Millburn police are looking for a suspect who attempted to pry open the lock on a car parked on the driveway of a Sagamore Road home.

The homeowner contacted police Thursday to report an attempted break-in of the car occurred sometime Wednesday after 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

A homeowner reported someone broke in and stole various items from a car on Myrtle Avenue sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, Millburn police said.

Millburn police arrested an 18-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. man and an 18-year Brooklyn woman, along with two teenagers Friday following an investigation at the Mall at Short Hills.

Police said Michael D. Neufville was arrested for using a 17-year-old or younger person to commit a crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by deception and conspiracy.

Also arrested was Donisha R. Spence, police said. Spence faces charges of theft by deception, conspiracy and forgery.

The two teenagers, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, were both charged with theft by deception, conspiracy and forgery, police said. The 16-year-old girl also faces a marijuana possession charge.

According to accounts, police were at Bloomingdale’s investigating reports of counterfeit $100 bills passed at the store.

Police made the arrests after stopping a car in the mall parking lot and determined the people in the car were involved in passing the counterfeit money.

Millburn police issued a summons to a 50-year-old Short Hills man Saturday following an accident with injuries at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Andover Drive.
William R. Simons was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated and careless driving. He had to be removed from his car and transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for his injuries.

Millburn police arrested a 20-year-old Newark woman Sunday for shoplifting from Bloomingdale’s at The Mall at Short Hills.

Ishitia J. Jones was arrested for allegedly concealing merchandise valued at $335.50 and exiting the store, police said.

 

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
