Millburn Students Win National Art and Writing Awards

Students take home medals in 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Seven Millburn Township students have won National Awards in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. The students will be honored in June at a ceremony in Carnegie Hall that highlights the creative achievements of the most select group of talented students in grades 7-12 nationwide.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is the longest running, most prestigious competition for creative youth in the United States. The jury process begins at the regional level and only a fraction of the thousands of works submitted ever makes it to the National Award level.

Millburn eighth grader Ryan Sunada-Wong has earned his second National Scholastic Award. Last year Ryan won a National Silver Medal and "Best in Grade" for a comic strip he created. This year another of Ryan's hand-drawn comic strips has earned him a National Silver Medal.
