Millburn, Summit Schools Host Seminar On Teen Health, Alcohol

Some parents' rules around alcohol have changed during the coronavirus pandemic. Here's what one expert has to say.

MILLBURN, NJ — Officials from schools in Millburn, Summit and beyond are teaming up to tackle teen alcohol abuse, especially as it pertains to drinking during the pandemic.

In a news release, Millburn Schools said some parents have relaxed rules around drinking at home, often to help students blow off steam or to create a better bonding environment. But teen drinking could have serious consequences down the road.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists social and school problems, illness, physical and sexual assault and delayed development as just a few outcomes of youths who begin drinking early in life.
