Millburn Will Use $500K In State Funding For Stormwater Project
The latest state budget has $500,000 in appropriations for Millburn. Here's what local officials plan to do with the money.

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn will be getting a $500,000 boost from the latest state budget, which officials intend to put to use on a local stormwater project.
Gov. Phil Murphy gave a green light to the fiscal year 2026 state budget earlier this month. The $58.78 billion spending plan cleared the Senate 26-13, with one senator not voting. The budget made it through the Assembly by a vote of 52-27, with one abstention.

According to Millburn officials, the budget contains $500,000 in direct state appropriations for the township – which it will use to support the Gilbert Place stormwater pump station project.

Here’s what to know, according to town officials:
“This project will expand the station’s capacity, improve the reliability of its electrical systems, provide backup power and pump redundancy. Once completed, this upgraded pump station will improve pre-storm flood mitigation and post-storm recovery to the area and improve the public safety and welfare during heavy rain events.”
“This funding from the state reflects cooperation and a strong partnership with our state legislators to invest in community infrastructure projects after expected federal funding for the project was paused earlier this year,” Millburn Mayor Annette Romano said.

“I made it my top priority to ensure the necessary repairs to the Gilbert Place pump station could move forward,” Romano said.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2026.
