Short Hills Doctor Recognized for Achievement

Short Hills resident, E. Hani Mansour, MD, medical director of The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, received the 2013 New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) Healthcare Professional of the Year award in recognition of his dedication and compassion to providing the finest care to burn victims.

Mansour is credited with building The Burn Center for the past 31 years. The Burn Center which is New Jersey’s only state-certified burn treatment facility and one of the largest in North America, expanded from a 10-bed unit to a nationally renowned, 30-bed unit with a staff of 90 burn specialists, including social workers and respiratory, physical and occupational therapists, as well as the doctors and nurses.

Mansour received a medical degree from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon and completed a general surgery residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Mansour attained the rank of major in the United States Army and served as staff surgeon at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, and later as chief of the Burn Study Branch at Brooke Army Medical Center.
