TAKE NOTICE that Essex County has filed a request with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, proposing to divert 0.11 acres of South Mountain Reservation located in Millburn Township in connection with the relocation of a water main owned by the City of Orange. As compensation for the proposed subsurface easement, Essex County will remit to Green Acres $104,082.05 for deposit in the Garden State Preservation Trust Fund as compensation for the land diversion and $198,465.00 for deposit in the Shade Tree and Community Forest Preservation License Plate Fund as tree compensation.

Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.6 (c), a hearing to obtain public comment on this request will be held online virtually via Microsoft Teams Website at 6:00 PM on Monday, April 4th, 2022.

All information submitted by Essex County to the Green Acres Program in support of this requested diversion of parkland is available for public inspection at the Essex County Clerk’s Office (495 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Newark, NJ), Millburn Municipal Clerk’s Office (375 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ), Millburn Free Public Library (200 Glen Avenue, Millburn, NJ) and at the NJDEP Green Acres Program offices (401 East State Street, 7th Floor, Trenton, NJ).
