2013 Montclair Pool Badges on Sale April 8

Pool Badges for the Montclair municipal pools will go on sale on Monday, April 8.

Essex Pool will open for the season on Saturday, May 25, and will remain open during the weekends only until June 27. 

All three pools — Essex, Nishuane, and Mountainside — will open full time for the summer season on Thursday, June 27.

Essex Pool will close Aug. 18 for the season. Nishuane and Mountainside pool will close on Sept. 2 for the season.

2013 Permits and Fees

Caregiver badges are valid Monday through Friday, but not during weekends nor holidays. Caregiver badges must be registered with a Montclair resident or family.  The caregiver must accompany a child or senior for admittance to the pool. 

Participants may register for pool permits Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Montclair Recreation Office, at 205 Claremont Ave. or online at CommunityPass.net/Montclair.

Pool Permits are available to Montclair residents only. Proof of residency is required when picking up your pool badges, e.g., driver’s license and school report cards.

Pool hours:
Monday - Friday 1 to 7 p.m. 
Weekends, holidays noon to 7 p.m.

Swim Lesson

 Swim lessons are available to children ages 5 to 12 years old. The cost is $50 for six lessons and participants must be pool badge holders. Lessons will be held every two weeks at pool location beginning July 1.

Aquasize 

Aquasize will be for adults only, and will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 10:45 am at Mountainside Pool.

The cost is $50 and the participants must be a pool badge holder. Program will run from July 9 to Aug. 22.

Adult Swims 

Adult Swims will be offered on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Check schedule for pool location.

Pool Locations

• Nishuane Pool: Located in Nishuane Park at the corner of Cedar Avenue and High Street. The phone number is 973-746-0329

• Essex Pool: Located at 41 Chestnut St. behind the Clary Anderson Arena. The phone number is 973-783-9821.

• Mountainside Pool: Located in Mountainside Park on Upper Mountain Avenue (in the 500 block) across from the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens. The phone number is 973-744-5444.

Swimming Lessons: Available at all locations. Check with individual pools for scheduling.

Snack and beverage vending available at all locations.

Tennis Court Hours

Tennis courts will be open between 8 a.m. and dusk. Clay courts will be open between May 1 and Oct. 31.

• Rand Park (North Fullerton Avenue and Chestnut Street): Four all-weather courts

• Mountainside Park (Upper Mountain Avenue): Two clay courts, four all-weather courts

• Nishuane Park (Cedar Avenue): Six all-weather courts
