4 Burglaries Last Weekend in Montclair, Police Say
Residents reported rear yard doors and windows broken where burglars entered their homes, according to police.

Four burglaries were reported last weekend on Gates and North Mountain avenues and Llewellyn and Valley roads, according to Montclair Police.
On April 4, a resident in the 100 block of Gates Avenue called police shortly after midnight to report hearing someone breaking into his basement. When officers arrived, they found a large hole that had been cut into the basement door and a second basement door with broken glass. Nothing was taken from the home, according to police.
On April 5, a resident on Llewellyn Road told police around 10:30 a.m. he found a window and basement door broken. The resident was having renovations done. The only thing taken was copper pipping, according to police.

Police also reported the burglary was the third break-in at the Llewellyn Road residence in two weeks.
Later on April 5, a relative of a resident living in the 200 block of Valley Road found the rear door of the home damaged around 3 p.m. Several rooms were ransacked and a jewelry box was rifled through, according to police.

Around 3:30 the same day, a resident returned home to walk his dog and found glass panes and the door handle of the home’s kitchen door broken, according to police. There were three gold rings and one 1-inch long solid gold pig reported missing.
A man was reported leaving the area around the time of the burglary. Police described him as between 20 and 30 years old, black or Hispanic with medium skin tone, at least 6-feet tall, approximately 200 pounds with a muscular build and no facial hair.
