Armed Man Attempts to Carjack 87-year-old Driver
The man reportedly showed the elderly driver the butt of a gun and said, 'I don't want to kill you. I just want your car.'

A man armed with a handgun attempted to carjack an 87-year-old local man late Sunday morning on a quiet Montclair cul-de-sac, according to police.
The Montclair man parked his 2006 Toyota on Claremont Place around 11:50 a.m. Sunday. Before he could get out of his car, the alleged attempted burglar walked up to the vehicle, police said.
After asking the driver for a dollar and to open the car door, the man allegedly opened his jacket and revealed what the driver described as the handle of a handgun, according to police.

“I don’t want to kill you. I just want your car," he allegedly told the driver.
The driver then took the keys out of the ignition and refused to hand them over. The man then reportedly walked away toward Grove Street, according to police.

The alleged attempted burglar was described by a black man in his early 20s is described as between 5-feet and 8- to 10-inches tall, with a thin build, approximately 150 pounds, no facial hair, and wearing gray pants, a black jacket and a baseball cap.
