While police are monitoring the bear, the Superintendent of Schools sent out a note saying the district will play it better safe than sorry.

Dear Parents/Caregivers:

The Montclair Police Department has notified us that there have been bear citings in Montclair: yesterday near the Montclair Art Museum and this morning, near Edgemont School. As a precaution, we are suspending all outside activities at all of our Elementary and Middle Schools. Mr. Earle will be sending out information for the high school students. The elementary and middle school children will remain indoors for lunch and recess and we will maintain extra security during school opening and dismissal times. The safety of our students is of outmost concern, and we will keep you posted as we are apprised of any new information.

Sincerely,
Penny MacCormack
