First Ward Community Meeting, Voter Registration Deadline, Free Concert This Week

A look at what's happening in Montclair and what stories Patch plans to cover.

Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote in the Aug. 13 special primary election for the U.S. Senate seat which became vacant following the death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D). The Montclair Municipal Clerk's office will be open until 8 p.m. for voter registration.

The Montclair Community Band will hold its second outdoor summer concert Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m., on the Montclair High School lawn (Chestnut Street corner at Park Street). If it rains, the concert will be moved into the high school auditorium.

First Ward Councilman William Hurlock will host a community meeting on Thursday, from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Bellevue Avenue Branch of the Montclair Public Library, 185 Bellevue Ave. Topics to be discussed include the Master Plan as it relates to the First Ward, as well as other issues in the ward and the township in general. All are welcome to attend.

The Montclair Historic Preservation Commission will also meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
