Free First Thursday at Montclair Art Museum

The monthly event features a full-service bar, music and art!

The Montclair Art Museum will hold its Free First Thursday Nights event from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the museum, located at 3 S. Mountain Ave. 

The museum will offer free admission to its galleries. The current exhibits include The New Spirit: American Art in the Armory Show, and 1913 and Oscar Bluemner's America: Picturing Paterson, New Jersey.  

This will also be the last week to see the 2013 Scholastics Art & Writing award winners, which will be on view through March 10.

There will be a full-service bar with special prices at the event provided by Egan & Sons Restaurant and Bar. The bar will be cash only. 

Tours will be offered every hour on the half hour — 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Live music will provided by the Montclair State University John J. Cali School of Music Jazz Studies Program, led by saxophonist Dan Braden.

There will also be a lecture at 7 p.m. with curator Dr. Roberta Smith Favis on Oscar Bluemner's portrayals of Paterson. 

Drop in art workshops will also be offered during the evening with one of the Yard School of Art teaching artists.
