Montclair Doctor, Red Cross To Offer Free Skin Cancer Screening

The free skin cancer screenings are part of Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, which is May.

From the American Red Cross: May is Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month and Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie of Montclair will visit the American Red Cross to perform free skin cancer screenings.

Dr. Jeanine Downie urges community residents to become more aware of changes in skin lesions and is encouraging community members to schedule an appointment for a free skin cancer screening for Thursday, May 18 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.at the Red Cross office located at 63 Park Street in Montclair.

The skin cancer screening will consist of a close visual inspection of the body skin by a physician assistant. Screenings typically start at the face and hairline, moving to the rest of the body down to the bottoms of the feet. The process takes only a few minutes and is painless.

Appointments are required and may be made by calling 973-746-1800. Screening gowns are generously donated by Keil’s of Montclair.
