Montclair Man Found Dead near George Washington Field

The body was found Tuesday evening during a JV Glen Ridge soccer game.

According to The Alternative Press, during a JV soccer game on Tuesday October 7, at George Washington Field, Glen Ridge players discovered the body of an unresponsive man.

The players followed their ball into a wooded area, where they then found the man laying. George Washington Field is shared by Montclair and Glen Ridge.

The police were called immediately and the man was pronounced dead on the scene, reports NJ.com. The man has since been identified as Curtis E. Dandrigde III, 47.

The following message was e-mailed to Glen Ridge parents:

“This evening, at half-time at the JV soccer game at George Washington field, a parent found an unresponsive body in the wooded area. The game officials immediately called 911, and the police are currently conducting an investigation. The game was canceled and all in attendance left the area. Any further details will be released by the Glen Ridge Police Department.”

According to NJ.com, spokeswoman Katherine Carter of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said, “The preliminary investigation indicates there are no signs of foul play but we are awaiting the autopsy results.”
