Montclair Police Now on Twitter

The department will soon join Facebook and Nixle to provide residents with up-to-the-minute information.

The Montclair Police Department has joined the social media community.

Police Chief David Sabagh and the department joined Twitter this past Monday with the goal of giving Montclair residents access to up-to-the-minute information about crime trends, police initiatives, road closures, emergency notifications, department events and tips on safety.

The department will soon Facebook and Nixle, the latter being a private notification service for local police departments, county emergency management offices, municipal governments and their agencies.

The department will also be revamping its website to provide yet another source of information.

This agency has always maintained a strong community policing policy and it hopes social media will open yet another line of communication that will further strengthen its ties with residents, according to a press release.
