Montclair Summer Job Openings: Lifeguard, Camp Leaders and More

The Montclair Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs has multiple job opens for the summer.

Day Camp Counselors: Responsible for leading recreational programs for small groups of children between the ages of 5-12 years old. Counselors must be at least 18 years old.

Camp runs from July 8 throguh Aug. 16, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Salary range: $255 to $350 per week.

Sports Camp Leaders: Responsible for teaching and coaching individual sports programs to children aged 9 to 14. Counselors must be at least 18 years old.

Sports include basketball, non-contact football, golf, boys lacrosse and volleyball.

Camps run from July 1 through Aug. 9 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and there will be two week sessions per sport.

Salary range: $150 to $300 per week.

Assistant Sports Camp Leader: Responsible for assisting coaches in teaching specific sports skills to campers between 9 and 14 years old.

Sports include basketball, non-contact football, golf, boys lacrosse and volleyball.

Camps run from July 1 through Aug. 9 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and noon and there will be two week sessions per week.

Salary Range $7.50 to $10 per hour.

Lifeguards: Responsible for supervising swimmers and assisting with swim lessons.

Certification for lifesaving, CPR and first aid are required.

Pools are open May 25 through Sept. 2 seven days a week: weekdays between 1 and 7 p.m., and weekends between noon and 7 p.m.

Salary range: $7.50 to $10.50 per hour. 

WSI Lifeguards: Must possess proper Water Safety Instructors Certificate along with Lifeguard Training, Community First Aid and Safety and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications.

Duties include lifeguarding, group swimming lessons and maintaining a clean facility.

Must be able to work weekends and holidays between May 25 and Sept. 2.

Salary range: $8.50 to $12 per hour.

Art and Drama Instructors: Responsible for implementing an art or drama program for campers aged 5 to 12.

Camp runs July 8 through Aug. 16 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Salary range: $300 to $450 per week.

Pool Managers: Must have managerial experience and be able to work well with the public and co-workers along with possessing good leadership skills.

Duties include supervising staff, testing pool water, scheduling staff, cleaning pool filters and attending a weekly staff meeting.

Must be able to work a minimum of 35 hours per week between May 25 and Sept. 2, including weekends and holidays. 

Salary range: $350 to $550 per week.
